So yesterday was Travis’ B-Day. I was still pretty sick but we decided to go out anyway! About half way through our dinner, I couldn’t breathe through my nose at all anymore, which apparently was really funny to the husband. It was kind of tricky to breathe and eat at the same time, though. But we had so much fun and I am so glad we went out.
I’m sorry I don’t have any pics!
For his big night, Travis picked our favorite mexican restaurant Anahuacalli so I thought it would be the occasion for me to do a little review:
Address: 30 rue des Bernardins 75005 Paris
Tel: 01 43 26 10 20
Atmosphere/ Service: it is a pretty small place, very simply decorated but clean and cozy. Nothing extravagant yet classy. Some mayan sculptures all around, a few paintings. The service is really great, especially if you come on a week night, when it is not too crowded.
Food and drinks: Well let me start with the drinks: the Margaritas are to die for. The best I’ve had in Paris. The food is excellent too. Our favorite dishes are the Mole Poblano (turkey breast in a cocoa spiced sauce) and Enchiladas Verdes. But over the years, I’ve also had their Chili relleno, beef enchilladas, fajitas which I really enjoyed. If you want a lighter dinner, try the Salmon with papaya sauce or one of their vegetarian options. For dessert, we highly recommend their Dulce de la Tia Amparo (a corn cake with plantain bananas, apples and raisins). So good with their cinnamon coffee.
Price: This place is not cheap but totally worth it. About 30-50 euros a person.
Well as you can see, this place is pretty awesome, the best mexican food I’ve found in Paris (and we tried a lot of other places…). Make sure to reserve though, even on a week day. This place can be pretty packed. We’ve always had a wonderful time there. All the people we’ve taken there loved it. It’s a keeper!!
